In Dortmund, the above-ground light rail stops are to be renovated to be accessible and given a uniform design.
Our design uses a single wooden support element to create a catalog of just a few components that can be combined to form different types of stops for side and center platforms. By arranging the cantilevered arms in a row, the classic division between roof and support is dissolved, creating a dynamic interplay of openness and enclosure.
In the area of the central walkway, the narrow but deep structural elements are not only mirrored but also staggered in depth. This creates a visually striking interplay of light and shadow—a poetic image that, through this rhythmic arrangement, lends the mundane construction project spatially compelling motifs.
