For the historic outbuildings at the former Tegel Airport, which date from the 1970s, we will plan and coordinate interim uses and develop renovation concepts.
Based on the buildings’ modular design, we are developing an overarching renovation concept that is database-driven and flexible in its application—all design-defining elements and components from the original construction period are to be fully preserved.

Temporary Use of Building E2:

In order to be able to rent out the spaces in the period leading up to the complete renovation, the electrical system and the heating/cooling system must be retrofitted in compliance with historic preservation regulations.

We were looking for an additive solution that would not damage the existing walls, which are protected as historic landmarks. We found it in the building’s former archive rooms: steel shelves that were no longer in use.

They are mounted along the hallway walls, and the upper shelf area accommodates the cable trays. This reusable installation can be dismantled without causing any damage to the existing structure.
