The building consists of three structures with nearly square floor plans. One of the structures is at ground level and serves as the building’s entrance. On the street side, the three building sections form a courtyard enclosed on three sides, which is set at a lower level. This provides light and ventilation to the basement. From an urban planning perspective, the new building blends well with the scale of its surroundings.
On the mezzanine levels above the ground floor and first floor, there is a complete core group area for four classes on each level. In between—on the first floor above the entrance area—is the educational area. It is thus accessible from both sections via a half-floor.
The cafeteria in the basement can be accessed via the central stairwell and from outside via the sunken courtyard. The cafeteria area also serves as a multipurpose space and can be used for events (orientation sessions, etc.).
The goal is to achieve “BNB Silver” certification (Sustainable Building Rating System).
The elementary school’s original building, dating from 1912, features numerous additions and renovations from various periods. Most recently, the facade underwent energy-efficiency renovations. Now, the interior layout is to be adapted to meet the needs of modern educational practices. An extension is also planned for the main facade, which will create additional rooms, provide barrier-free access to all floors, and give the elementary school a new “look.”
The building’s layout is being reorganized: four core group areas are distributed across the standard floors and are each supplemented by a team station in the annex. The specialized classrooms are being grouped by subject.
The attic is being prepared to accommodate a new ventilation system and additional necessary storage space.
The two existing sections of the sports hall, including the adjacent rooms, will undergo a complete renovation. The lower hall will be equipped with audiovisual technology to enable its use for events.
