A traditional museum has a fixed location. The idea behind the Mobile Museum, on the other hand, is to temporarily revitalize familiar or unusual places, transforming their structure and atmosphere. The Mobile Museums project aims to reflect on and build upon the concept of staging museum spaces. The museum as a modular system allows for flexible design. Each artist can construct their own individual museum, with a maximum size of 10 square meters, using a modular kit made of recycled PVC panels (Kömacell). Through this modular construction method, the artist can create a walk-in spatial structure that forms a self-contained unit both externally and internally. The outer shell/architecture corresponds to the inner experiential and atmospheric space. A Mobile Museum consists of integral PVC foam panels with a wall thickness of two by four centimeters. These panels are characterized by their low weight combined with high flexural and compressive strength. They are also thermally insulating, waterproof, and windproof, making them suitable for forming the entire building envelope. Once the Mobile Museum is no longer in use, the integral foam panels can be recycled into PVC construction products such as PVC pipes or cable ducts.
