Construction sites have become socially acceptable. Cranes symbolize progress and lasting happiness—and not just in the new federal states. An educational tour on the theme of construction sites aims to reveal the ambivalence of the subject to the viewer. The thematic arc spans from time-lapse footage of the construction of the Kunsthalle Hamburg, to the standardization of happiness in Buster Keaton’s “One Week,” to the media staging of the “Berlin Capital” construction site.
