U4 Horner Geest, Hamburg

The extension of the U4 will permanently connect the Horner Geest neighborhood with downtown Hamburg all the way to the Elbe bridges. This transportation link will give the existing neighborhoods a new significance without them losing their identity. In accordance with the “Upstream on the Elbe and Bille” development plan, this project will enhance the green spaces in Horner Geest and create a dialogue with the open-space qualities of HafenCity. The new subway stations will reflect this dialogue—the U4 in Horner Geest will become green. The stations will integrate the surrounding green spaces.
