The new bus terminal and the Martinsried subway station form a cohesive design and functional unit, creating a place that is highly pleasant to spend time in.

The roof structure of the bus terminal is designed as a square truss with a regular grid spacing of 1.80 m: a structurally optimized basic grid with dimensions ideal for photovoltaic modules. The roof not only provides shelter,
but also generates solar power.

Three amorphous shapes have been cut out of the grid, continuing the design of the ventilation and light openings in the subway station. The roof’s supporting structure responds to these cutouts: around them, the beams deviate from their strict grid geometry. On the ground, green islands with waiting benches are arranged beneath the openings.
